The Department of Science and Technology (DST) India is inviting proposals for pre-pilot and/or feasibility studies under the LeadIT Industry Transition Partnership (ITP).  Rs 9 crores in total will be awarded to projects that can support accelerated decarbonization in the Indian steel or cement sectors.

Key Objectives

  • To foster collaboration between Indian and Swedish stakeholders in the steel and cement industries.
  • To support research and development of technologies and processes for decarbonizing these sectors.
  • To facilitate the transition towards a more sustainable and low-carbon future for the steel and cement industries in India.

Who can apply?

The purpose of the Indian call is to provide support funding from the DST in tandem with funding of SEK 10 million which is available under a Swedish Energy Agency call.  Applicants will be required to partner with a Swedish steel or cement company and/or Swedish research institute and the projects put forward must also align with the scope of the SEA call.

Whilst the two calls are being run separately by the DST and the SEA, they will be coordinated as a single joint call.  Therefore the Swedish partners under the DST call must have applied for funding under the Swedish call as well.  Since the SEA and DST India will ensure joint support for the proposals which are selected, the evaluation and selection process will be coordinated between the two sides.

Important dates

The deadline for applications for both the DST call and the SEA call  September 1, 2025.

Decisions on which projects will be granted support are planned to be made in November 2025.

Full details of the proposal can be found here on the DST website
