Essential partnerships turning shared ambition into practical collaboration to advance industry transition

Industry Transition Partnerships

Industry Transition Partnerships (ITP) to accelerate the transition of heavy industry in India and globally

At COP28 in 2023, Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Ulf Kristersson launched a North-South partnership to speed up the transition towards cleaner industry.  This established the India-Sweden Industry Transition Partnership under the umbrella of LeadIT. The collaboration shows that when frontrunner nations and ambitious countries work together, they can cut heavy industry emissions and prove that green growth is possible.

Aims of the Industry Transition Partnerships

  1. Stronger cooperation

Strengthen collaboration between government and industry, and within government, to make decisions that support industry transition.

  2. Build and test pioneering technology

Bring together companies and technical experts to build and test new clean technologies on the ground at industrial facilities.

  3. Share know-how

Connect industrial researchers and policy experts through site visits and training programmes to spread the latest innovations on industry transition.

  4. Mobilize finance

Find new ways to unlock international and domestic investments to make sure green industrial projects get the capital needed to succeed.
