A Swedish multinational manufacturer, Volvo Group produces trucks, buses, construction equipment and supplies marine and industrial drive systems

Founded in 1927, Volvo was initially involved in the automobile industry, before expanding into other manufacturing sectors throughout the twentieth century. The company today employs over 100,000 people and has production in 17 countries and sales in almost 180 markets.

The Volvo Group is committed to shaping the future landscape of sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions and is a leading force in the shift towards the electrification of the transportation, mobility and equipment sectors. The company has an ambition to reach net-zero in its value chain by 2040.

Volvo and Tata Motors have pledged as part of their LeadIT membership to work together on a more sustainable heavy-duty transport eco-system in India.   In a first-of-its-kind cooperation for the Leadership Group, LeadIT is facilitating collaborative work between the two companies. The aim is to foster dialogues and collaboration to address the challenges of transitioning to a low-carbon transport infrastructure. This infrastructure could encompass both green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity.

No single technology will be the answer to lowering emissions. This is why we have adopted a multi-pronged approach to decarbonisation. However, creating the complete ecosystem for fossil free transport is not something that any one company can do alone. We need to partner up with big companies, startups, government and private sector to make this happen.
