JK Cement is one of India’s pioneers in the production of LC3 lower emissions cement and amongst the world’s largest white cement manufacturers.
JKCement Ltd. is recognised as a leading cement and building-materials manufacturer in India, with a history dating back to the commissioning of its first grey cement plant in Nimbahera, Rajasthan in 1975. Over the past five decades, it has grown into a major player in the industry, known for high-quality grey and white cement, wall putty, and other construction products. The company has also pioneered the use of lower emissions, LC3 cement in India. At its Mangrol cement facility, JKCement was the first manufacturer to achieve full-scale LC3 production in India. LC3 reduces carbon emissions by up to 40% compared to traditional Portland cement. The first major infrastructure use of LC3 from JKCement is at Noida Airport in Uttar Pradesh, India
Along with LeadIT members Tata Steel and Cemvision, JK Cement is undertaking a pre-pilot feasibility study in India to create industrial symbiosis, where steel industry by-products become a resource for cement production. The dual value generation project, involving high metallic recovery and sustainable supplementary cementitious material production, is part of the LeadIT Industry Transition Partnership (ITP), with funding from the Indian Department of Science and Technology and the Swedish Energy Agency.
