Cemvision is a Swedish scale-up developing cement that reduces CO2 emissions by 80-100%.

Swedish based Cemvision is a cement industry scale-up founded in 2020 to specifically bring new perspectives and solutions to this high emissions industry. They call themselves “cemvisionaries” with the aim to revolutionize cement. By developing cement made from recycled residual materials with kilns fuelled by fossil-free energy, they offer cement products with CO2 emission reductions of between 80 and 100%.

Cemvision brings a disruptive green approach to a highly polluting and traditional cement industry. By using waste materials instead of virgin, they eliminate the need for high-temperature calcination, which heavily cuts CO2 emissions in an energy-efficient way. Their vision is to transform the cement industry from being resistant to change and polluting to one that continuously improves its sustainability. Their goal is to redefine the industry standards to promote environmental performance and demonstrate that sustainable production is not only possible but also preferable and profitable.

Cemvision has partnered with LeadIT members Tata Steel and JK Cement to explore converting steelmaking slag into high-value feedstock for near-zero-carbon cement, while also recovering valuable metals,  The companies aim to conduct a joint feasibility study, supported by grants from the Swedish Energy Agency and India’s Department of Science and Technology as part of LeadIT’s Industry Transition Partnership.
